The Woodrow Wilson High School mock trial team is headed to the Texas state competition once again for the third consecutive year. Woodrow finished 2nd in DISD winning 6 out 7 rounds.
In 2023, Woodrow finished the season as the number 3 team in Texas. This year’s team includes several returning veterans as well as some incoming freshmen. The team puts in months of preparation and practice beginning when the case is released each October. Students compete as lawyers or witnesses and develop critical thinking and public speaking skills.
Woodrow Wilson fielded one of the very first teams to compete in the inaugural season the Dallas Bar Association started the competition in 1979. Over the years, the competition has grown to districts across the state. Approximately 150 schools begin competing in preliminary rounds each January.
The season culminates with the state finals competition held at the George Allen Courthouse in Dallas. Woodrow will compete at state this year March 7– 8. Volunteering attorneys and trial court judges score each round.
