Important info for Hurricane Harvey property owners:
Texas passed a law this summer that significantly weakens home owner rights against insurance companies for property damage claims. It takes effect September 1.
There are still a few days to make claims under the old law.
Property owners with Hurricane Harvey property damage claims wishing to take advantage of existing law should send a written message or email directly to their insurance company that:
(1) specifically references their claim; and
(2) is dated BEFORE Sept. 1, 2017
Telephone messages will not suffice as written notice.
