NBC’s hit firehouse series, “Chicago Fire,” dealt with the dangers of asbestos exposure in its second season. A main character, Chief Boden, goes in for testing and realizes three firemen from his 1985 roster have died due to asbestos exposure. He’s convinced that he’s next. Fortunately, the chief eventually finds out he is “all clear” – a great ending to a TV drama, but in reality often not the case.
If you’ve been occupationally exposed to asbestos, let your doctor know. If you’ve been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, it is wise to consult an attorney familiar with this disease.
