You are deep into holiday plans, gift buying and wrapping, kids out of school – BUT there are still a few things to check off your end-of-the-year list.
- Taxes
Why am I bringing up taxes right now? “I have until April.” Maybe not. Some things need to be done before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st.- Check with your financial advisor and, if possible:
– Make donations to your favorite non-profits.
– Look over your IRA and 401K accounts. Are they fully funded? If not, this is the time to make contributions.
– Consider making an extra mortgage payment
– If you are 70 1/2 or older, take your minimum required distribution
– Begin gathering 2015 documents (and at the same time clear off your desk so you start the new year uncluttered and ready to go)!
- Check with your financial advisor and, if possible:
- Don’t leave money on the table
– Spend your FSA (Flexible Spending Account)
– Visit your doctors before a new spending year begins - Make someone happy
– Make that call
– Send someone a note
– Smile - Take care of yourself
– Make quiet time in the midst of hustle and bustle
– Take a walk
– Make plans for a healthier 2016
We at DuBose Law Firm wish you the best this holiday season and a great 2016!
